Our privacy commitment
Open Growth Group Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), located at 1111B S Governors Ave STE 37208, Dover, DE 19904 US, operates Kensi ("the Service"). This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Kensi is built on a simple principle: your voice, your data, your device. We believe voice-to-text should work without sacrificing privacy. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we don't, and why.
This Privacy Policy is part of and subject to our Terms of Service at kensi.ai/terms. Capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Service.
Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR:
Speech and audio data
On-device speech recognition. All speech-to-text processing happens locally on your Mac or iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your audio is never sent to our servers.
Voice tier ($2/mo). Speech recognition runs entirely on-device. No audio or text leaves your machine. Zero network calls for transcription.
Cloud tier ($12/mo). Speech recognition is still on-device. Only the resulting text (never audio) is sent to our cloud AI for correction, then immediately discarded after processing. We do not store, log, or train on your text.
Privacy tier ($18/mo). Everything runs on your Mac — speech recognition and AI correction. Nothing leaves your device. No network calls whatsoever. Works fully offline.
Everything tier ($22/mo). You choose per-mode whether to use cloud or on-device AI. The same rules apply to each path.
Live Notes (meeting transcription)
Live Notes captures audio from your microphone, system audio, or both. All transcription happens on-device. Transcripts are stored locally on your Mac.
On the Cloud tier, if you use AI-powered summaries, the transcript text (not audio) is sent to our cloud AI for processing and immediately discarded. On the Privacy tier, summaries are generated on-device.
We never join your meetings. There is no meeting bot. No audio is uploaded or stored on our servers.
Screen context and file access
Kensi's screen context feature reads your frontmost app and visible content to provide relevant responses in Ask mode. This data is processed on-device and is never sent to our servers.
On the Cloud tier, a text summary of visible context (not screenshots) may be sent with your query to the cloud AI for processing. This data is not stored or logged.
On the Privacy tier, all context processing happens locally.
Connected integrations
Kensi can connect to third-party services (Slack, GitHub, Linear, Notion, Google Workspace) to provide contextual answers. When you authorize an integration:
Account and personal information
No account required. You can download and use Kensi without creating an account, providing an email, or signing in. There is no user database for the Voice and Privacy tiers.
Cloud and Everything tiers. These tiers require a license key for API access. We store your email address and license key. We do not store your name, location, or any other personal information.
Payment processing. Payments are handled by Stripe (https://stripe.com/privacy). We do not store credit card numbers or payment details on our servers.
Analytics and tracking
We do not use third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude).
We do not track your behavior, keystrokes, app usage patterns, or browsing history.
We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., total API calls for capacity planning). These contain no personal information and cannot be linked to any individual.
Website data
The Kensi website (kensi.ai) uses a single cookie (`kensi-theme`) to store your theme preference (light or dark mode). We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising scripts.
Your theme preference is stored in a browser cookie that never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Kensi website (kensi.ai) uses a single cookie (kensi-theme) to store your theme preference (light or dark mode). This is a strictly functional cookie that is necessary for the website to operate according to your preferences. It is exempt from consent requirements under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
This cookie is stored locally in your browser, does not contain personal information, and is not accessible to us or any third party.
We do not use any analytics cookies, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or third-party scripts on our website. If this changes in the future, we will update this section and implement appropriate consent mechanisms before deploying any non-essential cookies.
The Kensi desktop and mobile applications do not use cookies.
Data storage and retention
Audio recordings. Never stored on our servers. Processed on-device and discarded.
Transcribed text (Cloud tier). Sent to our AI provider for correction, then immediately discarded. Not stored, not logged, not used for training.
Local data. Transcripts, audio history, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time through the app.
Vocabulary and personas. Your custom vocabulary, persona configurations, and voice snippets are stored locally on your device.
Email and license key data. Retained while your subscription is active plus 30 days after cancellation. After this period, your email and license key are permanently deleted from our systems. To request earlier deletion, contact hello@kensi.ai.
Third-party AI providers
The Cloud tier uses [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., Anthropic's Claude API] for text correction, processed in [PLACEHOLDER: region]. When text is sent to these providers:
The Privacy tier uses on-device AI models (via Apple MLX) and makes zero third-party API calls.
International data transfers
Voice and Privacy tiers. No data leaves your device. No international transfers occur.
Cloud and Everything tiers (cloud mode). Text sent for AI correction is processed by [PLACEHOLDER: AI provider name] in [PLACEHOLDER: region, e.g., the United States]. We rely on [PLACEHOLDER: Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) / adequacy decision] to ensure adequate protection for data transferred outside your jurisdiction.
No audio is ever transferred internationally. Speech recognition is always on-device.
Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) for all cloud communications and on-device encryption for locally stored data.
Breach notification. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and relevant supervisory authorities within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by GDPR Article 33.
Children's privacy
Kensi is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
Parents or guardians who believe their child's data may have been collected can contact us at hello@kensi.ai to request deletion.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
EU/EEA residents (GDPR). Right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact hello@kensi.ai.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). Right to know what personal information is collected, right to delete, right to opt-out of sale (we do not sell personal information), and right to non-discrimination. See the California-specific section below.
All users. You can delete your local data at any time through the app. For data associated with your license key, contact hello@kensi.ai.
We will respond to verified requests within 30 days (or 45 days if an extension is needed, with notice).
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the following additional disclosures apply:
Categories of personal information collected. Identifiers (email address, license key) for paid tier users only. No personal information is collected from free or Voice tier users.
We do not sell your personal information. We have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months and do not intend to.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Right to know and delete. You may request to know what personal information we hold about you or request its deletion by contacting hello@kensi.ai.
Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
European Economic Area residents (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, the following additional information applies:

Your personal data is protected under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as enforced by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Where your data is transferred outside the United Kingdom (for example, to our AI provider on the Cloud tier), we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or other transfer mechanisms approved by the ICO, to ensure adequate protection.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change. Material changes will be communicated through the app or our website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
